A Quest for Fun
By Anna Fenno, Social Director
“It’s a quest. It’s a quest for fun. I’m gonna have fun and you’re gonna have fun,” a wild-eyed Clark Griswold told his family those immortal words in the classic “Vacation” series.
Looking at the collection of family photos that line the walls of my parents’ house, something stirs deep inside me. There’s the time my two older brothers and I proudly built an elaborate sandcastle at Cannon Beach. There are photos of potato sack races at the neighborhood carnival. There is evidence of countless costumes, dress-up parties, dinners with close family friends, and the fateful day when my cousin broke his arm on our homemade mattress catapult.
At the time, I didn’t realize how much those Griswold-type experiences meant to me. With this in mind, the Bellevue Club is launching Family Social Nights in 2010. There’s no pressure on you—simply round up the family and come down to the Bellevue Club. Our goal is to provide you with opportunities to connect and create memories with your family.
The first Family Social Night is Thursday, March 18, and it will be a fun spaghetti and bingo party with good food and fun prizes.
We are currently in the planning phases for the rest of our events, but here is a preview of our brainstorming list:
• All Ages Talent Show
• Outdoor Movie Night
• Decade Dance
• Family Summer Olympics
• Pumpkin Carving
• Winter Festival
We are still open to ideas, so please contact me at annaf@bellevueclub.com with your suggestions. The easiest way to stay in the loop on our future “Family Nights” is by subscribing to e-mail alerts from the Social Department. Log on to the Members Only site at https://members.bellevueclub.com and click on the e-mail alerts tab. If you need a password, contact Membership Services at 688.3221.
Besides family nights, our popular children’s manners classes are coming soon. Barbara Brueske of Etiquette Unlimited fearlessly teaches children useful skills through a series of fun exercises that will benefit them for life. If you need help convincing your little ones, there’s a giant teddy bear involved. Information on times and prices can be found in the Classes & Events section of REFLECTIONS.
Join the Bellevue Club in a quest for fun this year with our upcoming monthly family nights.
