STRICTLY SOCIAL

Social PhotoNew Year, New Adventures

Tweet it from the rooftops, it’s officially 2010. As the Champagne stops flowing and the music quiets, the New Year gives us the opportunity to reassess our goals and priorities, and then head full force into the year with fire beneath our feet.

Along with my usual resolutions, I have an interesting one for this year—writing this column. Several months ago, the REFLECTIONS staff approached me about putting together a monthly column that would highlight social events, member happenings and other tasty tidbits of information.

Since January is all about resolutions, here’s a great one for you: learn to ski. While most of you are probably already expert skiers, I’m sure there are a few of you out there who still haven’t quite mastered the art of schussing. Although the health benefits and fun are important, I’ve got an ulterior motive for getting you on the slopes—so you can attend Mike Murphy’s Après Ski Night at the Bellevue Club on Saturday, Jan. 23. Skiing ability is not actually mandatory, but a goggle tan—along with a pre-function visit to Cosmos—will definitely help get you in the mood for this Sun Valley comedian and musician. Sign up early because this popular show typically sells out.

If attending Mike Murphy’s event isn’t enough, here’s another great resolution for you: play bridge. Seriously, it is fun, competitive and social, and you should do it. It just so happens that we have a Beginning Bridge 2 class starting this winter. It’s the perfect opportunity to pick up skills and feel more comfortable at any bridge table.

If you’ve already mastered the ins and outs of bridge, then be sure to sign up for Winter Social Bridge. This 10-week tournament is an addicting way to spend the afternoon. If you’re not quite sure that you can commit, signing up as a substitute is a great way to get in the game without the 10-week commitment.

Also, feel free to e-mail me at annaf@bellevueclub.com for any fun happenings or social-related member news.

And for your last resolution, take the time to appreciate all the great things in your life. You’ll be happy you did.
