Take a trip with your family by foot, bike or horse down the John Wayne Pioneer Trail in Eastern Washington. This 145-mile trail stretches two-thirds of the way across Washington to the Idaho border. In addition to picturesque views, you can make your way through a 2.3-mile tunnel at Snoqualmie. This tunnel, the longest open to nonmotorized travel in the country, has no interior lighting, so bring a flashlight. The 100-mile portion of the trail from Cedar Falls to the Columbia River is managed as Iron Horse State Park, where first-come, first-served camping is available.
