There is something new—and tasty—to do in Seattle. For the chocolate-lover in your life, try a tour of the Theo Chocolate factory, located at 3400 Phinney Ave. N. in Fremont. The company is the first roaster of Fair Trade Certified cocoa beans and the only roaster of organic cocoa beans in the United States. With chocolate varieties from mint to chipotle spice to peanut butter and jelly, there is a chocolate for everyone at Theo. Factory tours are at 1 and 3 p.m. daily, and take approximately one hour, during which there are plenty of samples. The daily tours are $5 per person, and are recommended for children age 6 and older. Any children under 16 must be accompanied by an
adult, and there must be at least one adult for every four children under the age of 12. Reservations for the daily tours can be made at 206-632-5100. In addition, Theo Chocolate also has private tours available that include lunch, hands-on experiences, wine and more. For more information about private tours, call Pamela Hinckley at 206-604-1442. Theo Chocolate also sells chocolate bars under the 3400 Phinney Chocolate Factory name. The chocolate can be found at area grocery stores and specialty stores including Whole Foods, PCC, QFC, TOP Food & Drug and Safeway. Visit the Web site at www.theochocolate.com.
